Sage & Sun Yoga A slower way to move, breathe and come home to yourself.

Yin Yoga in Portland

Floor-based postures held for several minutes at a time, for students who want to work deeper and slower.

A student resting in a supported yin yoga posture.

Yin Yoga asks you to do less. Postures are held on the floor for three to five minutes at a time, working gradually into the connective tissue around the hips, spine and shoulders rather than the muscles. It's a quieter counterpart to a flowing practice, and a good place to start if sitting still feels hard.

What we offer

  • Floor-based postures held for three to five minutes each
  • Full prop support — bolsters, blocks and blankets for every student
  • A small class size so your teacher can check in on your setup
  • A guided relaxation at the end of class
  • Evening class times suited to winding down after work

How to book

Book your spot online and choose a Yin Yoga class time. Because the pace is slow, arriving five to ten minutes early gives you time to get settled with props before the class begins.

Price

A single Yin Yoga class starts from $24; class packages reduce the per-visit price. New students can book their first class free.

Questions

Will I get bored if we're not moving much?

Most students find the opposite — without much to do, there's more room to notice your breath and your body. Your teacher talks you through what to feel for in each posture.

Is Yin Yoga a stretching class?

It overlaps with stretching, but the goal is to work the connective tissue through time and stillness rather than to deepen a stretch actively.
