Restorative Yoga in Portland

Fully supported, prop-heavy postures held for ten minutes or more, built for rest rather than effort.

A student fully supported by bolsters and blankets.

Restorative Yoga uses props to support the body fully, so you can hold a small number of postures passively for ten minutes or more. There is no active stretching and no strength work — the aim is rest, for a nervous system that rarely gets the chance.

What we offer

  • Three to four fully supported postures per class, held for ten minutes or longer
  • Bolsters, blankets and blocks arranged for you by your teacher
  • Soft lighting and quiet, unhurried pacing throughout
  • A guided body scan to close the class
  • A Sunday afternoon slot, alongside weekday evenings

How to book

Book a Restorative Yoga class online and arrive about ten minutes early — your teacher will help you set up your first posture before the class formally begins.

Price

A single Restorative Yoga class starts from $28, reflecting the smaller class size; packages are available. Your first visit is free as a new student.

Questions

Do I need to be flexible for Restorative Yoga?

No. Every posture is fully supported by props, so flexibility is not required — you only need to be willing to stay still.

Can I fall asleep during class?

It happens often, and it's not a problem. Your teacher will gently guide you out of the posture when it's time to move on.
